“Good, because you know my next cosplay is a secret and I don’t want you to see it until it’s ready,” Ashley said, wrinkling her nose at him.
Brian let out a sigh of relief and smiled back. The other other use for the storage room was a little workshop for Ashley and Jessie to make costumes. After giving birth, Jessie wasn’t dressing up for any conventions for a little while. Plus, Brian had a feeling Jessie wanted to wait until she had a huge pregnant belly again before dressing up and going out. But Ashley was always coming up with new inventive costume ideas, while also trying to create the best fake pregnant belly she could.
“I’ll just wait until the convention,” Brian said.
“Good,” Ashley said with a nod.
“Besides, seeing the costume isn’t the important part…it’s seeing you in it that I care about,” Brian said.
Ashley sighed at that and gave him a quick kiss on the lips before going back into the storage room. Jessie could tell she had her head in the clouds now and she smiled, happy to see Brian and Ashley’s relationship was still going strong.
“Watch the store while I go make these deliveries?” Jessie said, carrying the multiple milk coolers in her arms. “I need a level headed lady to keep those boys in line.”
“I can handle it,” Ashley said with a chuckle, following Jessie out of the storage room, covering up her work on the costume with a large sheet.
Out in the front of the store, Brian was back to the table, sitting with Darren and Len as the trio planned out the next issue of the comic book store’s zine. “We are still short a few pages, and I don’t want to just pad it out with writing about, y’know, Batman and Spider-Man, that kind of thing,” Len said, scratching the side of his head. “We should be more inventive.”
